The Snowdonia National Park was created in 1951. By worldwide standards, it is a small area (827 square miles) but it attracts over six million visitors each year. All are drawn to the natural beauty and wonderful vistas. It boasts the highest mountain in England and Wales, and the largest natural lake in Wales, as well as a wealth of picturesque villages like Betws y Coed and Beddgelert. It is a delightfully varied landscape of steep river gorges, waterfalls, passes and green valleys.
